In a tragic incident in Oklahoma City, Hemant Mistry, a 59-year-old Indian-American motel manager from Gujarat, died after being punched by a man identified as Richard Lewis. The altercation occurred on Saturday night in the motel’s parking lot near Interstate 40 and Meridian Avenue when Mistry asked Lewis to leave the property.

Police were called to the scene around 10 pm. After being struck, Mistry lost consciousness and was taken to a hospital, where he died at approximately 7:40 pm on Sunday (23).

Lewis was later arrested at a hotel on the 1900 block of S Meridian Avenue. He is being held on a $100,000 bond at the Oklahoma County jail on an aggravated assault and battery complaint as of Monday (24).

The motive behind the confrontation remains unclear, but Oklahoma City police stated that Lewis was reluctant to leave the premises.
