Netflix’s hit Regency-era drama Bridgerton smashed several viewership records with its two seasons. After the riotous success of the first two seasons, the streaming giant is now set to roll out its much-anticipated third season.

Recently, Netflix dropped the first look of the third season at its third Tudum event in São Paulo, Brazil, which left the audience super excited.

If reports are to be believed, Bridgerton 3 will focus on the love story between Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton. It will start off from where the second season left off, with Penelope still heartbroken after overhearing Colin’s snide comments about her. She has decided to take a husband, preferably one who will provide her with enough independence to continue her double life as Lady Whistledown, author of a gossip column about London’s high society.

Nicola Coughlan and Luke Newton play the lead characters of Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton respectively in Bridgerton 3. The new season will also introduce three new characters: Marcus Anderson (Daniel Francis), Lord Debling (Sam Phillips), and Harry Dankworth (James Phoon).

Francis has been roped in to play Marcus Anderson, a charismatic presence who attracts the notice of certain matriarchs in the ton. Phillips, on the other hand, plays Lord Debling, a genial lord with unusual interests. And Phoon has been cast to essay the role of Harry Dankworth, a man whose looks open doors for him among the ton.

Back in mid-May 2022, Netflix revealed that Francesca Bridgerton (played by Ruby Stokes) is being recast due to a filming clash with another project. Hannah Dodd has been cast as her replacement. Plus, Simone Ashley and Jonathan Bailey will also be back as Kate and Anthony. There is no update on whether season two newcomer Charithra Chandran will return as Edwina Sharma or not.

Since Chris Van Dusen resigned, Jess Brownell onboards to serve as showrunner for Season 3. He is also attached as executive producer alongside Van Dusen, Shonda Rhimes, Betsy Beers, and Tom Verica of Shondaland.
