Diljit Dosanjh’s music video Kufar, which features Manushi Chhillar, has become the focus of widespread online discussion due to one dance move that viewers found objectionable. The moment takes place during the line “jannat ke darwaaze kudiye,” where Diljit Dosanjh is positioned behind a female dancer lifting her leg. The step drew criticism from users who felt the visual appeared unnecessary or objectifying.

The reaction pushed choreographers Shazia Samji and Piyush Bhagat to explain the context behind the choreography and reinforce that the move aligned with the direction given for the song.

Why the Diljit Dosanjh ‘Kufar’ Step Sparked Debate

Shazia and Piyush discussed the criticism in detail during an appearance on a Hindi Rush podcast. They noted that the choreography was designed as part of a “sexy, international-style number,” consistent with the brief for the project.

Shazia described the moment in question as a team favorite, saying, “The Jannat Ke Darwaaze sequence was actually our favourite. Diljit has sung it very nicely, it was going to connect with the audience.”

Piyush added that the set operated with full transparency. “It’s teamwork. Everyone on set knew what was happening, from the dancers to the actors to the DOP. I think it was meant to happen.”

The choreographers said the teaser clearly signaled the song’s tone. “Some people perceived it a certain way, and that’s their perspective,” Piyush said. “If you see the song’s teaser, it says, ‘Are you ready for a sexy dance?’ I don’t see anything negative; it was fun.”

Shazia added, “We just got one brief: make it a sexy song. Both negatives and positives will always be said. That’s normal.” They also clarified that Manushi Chhillar was not the dancer performing the contested move.

Diljit Dosanjh Responds to the Conversation on Social Media

Diljit Dosanjh addressed the criticism in a live session, stating he was unaware of any controversy during the shoot. He said, “Bruh, mai ta othe khada si, aase paase pata ni ki challi janda si” (I was just standing there, didn’t even know what was happening).

His reaction added another angle to the trending discussion, as fans and industry watchers examined both the choreography and the responses from the team involved. Diljit Dosanjh continues to draw high user interest across platforms, contributing to the visibility of the Kufar debate.

Manushi Chhillar Clarifies Her Role in the Diljit Dosanjh ‘Kufar’ Video

As the criticism grew, Manushi Chhillar posted on X to explain that she was not part of the specific choreography step being discussed. She asked viewers not to target the dancer performing the move, noting that the individual was doing her job according to the sequence planned.

Manushi also detailed the pace of production, explaining that the choreography she performed was learned in six hours and her costumes were prepared within half a day. Her comments provided additional context about the workflow and coordination on set with Diljit Dosanjh.

Diljit Dosanjh and the Performance of ‘Kufar’ on Digital Platforms

Kufar, released in October as part of the AURA album, has crossed 2.9 crore views on YouTube. The track remains a significant part of discussions around Diljit Dosanjh, whose projects routinely attract strong engagement across music and social media platforms.

Diljit has described the AURA album as “sexy songs for sexy dance,” explaining that the theme was inspired by fans who regularly talked about his “aura” during live shows. The concept shaped the styling, choreography, and tone of the tracks included.

Despite the ongoing scrutiny, traffic to the song remains high, and commentary around the choreography continues to be a central talking point. The involvement of Diljit Dosanjh, coupled with social media amplification, has kept Kufar in the entertainment news cycle.
