The Indian Army today briefed a military contingent from the United Kingdom ahead of the third Indo-UK joint army training exercise ‘Ajeya Warrior’ in Rajasthan’s Mahajan field firing ranges, a defence spokesman said. The UK army contingent was briefed in detail about the scheduled training and administrative infrastructure along with weather conditions by Indian Army officers prior to the exercise which begins tomorrow in the Thar desert close to the Indo-Pak border.
“The Indian and UK contingent officers carried out discussions on the finer aspects of the scheduled training and sequencing of various activities to be undertaken in the exercise,” defence spokesperson Lt Col Manish Ojha said. The 14 day exercise, aimed at building and promoting bilateral relations and enhancing inter-operability, seeks to achieve complete integration between the two contingents at every stage, Ojha added.
The exercise will provide field commanders and troops an opportunity to interact with each other in matters professional, social and cultural fields, he said. Approximately 120 personnel from the 20th Battalion of the Rajputana Rifles and the 1st Battalion of Royal Anglican Regiment of the Royal British Army will participate in the exercise, Ojha said. The first exercise was conducted in 2013 at Belgaum, Karnataka, whereas for the second exercise in 2015, an Indian Army contingent had visited the United Kingdom.
