Grammy-award-winning Hindustani classical music instrumentalist Vishwa Mohan Bhatt will perform in London on Sunday (28). The musical journey and the concert will showcase the brilliance of the maestro’s unique talent and his contribution to Indian classical music.

Renowned for his exceptional musicianship, he has firmly established the slide guitar, known as the Mohan Veena, within the realm of mainstream Indian classical music. With performances in more than 80 countries and appearances at prestigious venues and festivals worldwide, including Eric Clapton’s Cross Road’s Guitar Festival, Bhatt has earned international acclaim as a cultural ambassador of Indian music.

The Mohan Veena, Bhatt’s innovative creation, combines the essence of the Hawaiian slide guitar with traditional Indian sitar, sarod, and vina techniques. His music is renowned for its delicate yet fiery melodies, enchanting audiences around the world.

Joining Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt on this tour is Pandit Subhen Chatterjee, an accomplished tabla player. Influenced by the Lucknow gharana, one of the prominent tabla styles in Indian classical music, Chatterjee’s mastery of rhythm and intricate playing style captivates listeners. Trained by the legendary tabla maestro Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri, Chatterjee has incorporated the nuances of other gharanas, showcasing his versatility and skill.

Apart from London, Bhatt and Chatterjee has performed at various venues in the UK as part of their tour. They will perform at St George’s in Bristol on 01 June, 2023 and Strode Theatre in Somerset on 04 June, 2023.

The concert is presented by Asian Arts Agency.
