India has emerged as the second-largest overseas source market for US tourism, reflecting a sustained surge in outbound travel from India to the United States. According to Brand USA, visitation from India has grown by 40 percent compared to pre-pandemic levels, placing India among the fastest-recovering international markets for US travel.

The growth highlights changing travel patterns in India, driven by rising disposable incomes, improved air connectivity, and a growing base of experienced international travelers. More than two million visitors from India traveled to the United States in 2025, confirming India’s expanding influence on the US tourism economy.

India Travel to the US Shows One of the Strongest Post-Pandemic Recoveries

The milestone was announced by Brand USA president and CEO Fred Dixon during his visit to Bengaluru for the 12th edition of Brand USA Travel Week India. Speaking to PTI, Dixon emphasized that India’s recovery has been among the strongest globally.

“We’re thrilled that travel to the United States from India continues to grow at an incredible pace,” Dixon said. “We’ve just completed the second straight year of strong recovery, with more than two million Indian visitors traveling to the US in 2025. That achievement has made India the second-largest overseas market for the United States.”

India’s rise in the rankings places it behind only one overseas market, while also outperforming several traditional tourism sources for the US.
