A passenger bus, bound from Rawalpindi to Gilgit, meets with disaster near Diamer in Gilgit-Baltistan, claiming the lives of at least 20. The catastrophe strikes near Gunar Farm as the bus careens off course, tumbling into a rugged ravine.

Swift rescue efforts ensue, ferrying the wounded to Chilas Hospital. Local authorities, along with religious leaders and volunteers, rally to assist the victims. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari extend condolences, emphasizing urgent medical aid for the injured. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi extends heartfelt sympathies to the grieving families.

“Local religious leaders broadcast news of the accident via mosque loudspeakers, urging blood donations for the injured,” reveals Azmat Shah, a city police official.

“Rescue operations concluded. Of the 21 injured, five remain in critical condition.”

The bus, originally departing from Islamabad, was destined for Gilgit. The wounded have been transferred to Chilas Hospital, confirms the rescue officer, noting that initial injury toll stood at 35, with many succumbing to their wounds. A Gilgit-Baltistan government official reports 43 passengers aboard in total.
