Prime Minister Sharif of Pakistan, alongside Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, is slated to participate in the special assembly of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Riyadh. The summit, themed ‘Global Collaboration, Growth, and Energy for Development’, is set for April 28 and 29, drawing eminent diplomats from Arab and European nations.
A central focus of the agenda is a dedicated discourse on Gaza, with a session scheduled for Monday, featuring prominent figures like Palestinian PM Mohammad Mustafa, Egyptian PM Mostafa Madbouly, and UN aid coordinator for Gaza, Sigrid Kaag.
Sharif’s engagement follows an invitation from Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and WEF Founder Klaus Schwab. Additionally, Sharif will grace the 15th session of the Islamic Summit Conference in Gambia from May 4 to 5, while Foreign Minister Dar will partake in the preparatory gathering of the Council of Foreign Ministers on May 2-3.
During the WEF summit, Sharif aims to underscore Pakistan’s concerns in global health infrastructure, inclusive growth, and regional cooperation. He will also address the plight in Gaza, advocating for their self-determination rights and stressing solidarity. Deliberations on Islamophobia, terrorism, and other worldwide challenges are anticipated, along with bilateral dialogues with leaders from the Muslim world.
