Asserts all new job growth now benefits American-born workers
In a prime-time address on December 17, 2025, President Donald Trump outlined what he described as significant successes during his second term in office. Speaking from the White House Diplomatic Room, Trump focused on immigration control, economic improvements, and his administration’s role in resolving global conflicts.
“Eleven months ago, I inherited a mess, and I’m fixing it,” Trump said, beginning his 19-minute speech. He credited his administration with strengthening America through various initiatives, including tighter border enforcement, encouraging what he termed “reverse migration,” reducing prices, ending wars, imposing tariffs, creating jobs, and addressing immigration issues.
Trump Claims to Have Ended Multiple Conflicts
Trump asserted that his administration had settled eight wars in less than a year. “I’ve restored American strength, settled eight wars in 10 months, destroyed the Iran nuclear threat and ended the war in Gaza, bringing for the first time in 3,000 years peace to the Middle East, and secured the release of the hostages, both living and dead,” he said.
While Trump did not specify the conflicts during the speech, he has repeatedly stated throughout the year that his efforts helped resolve tensions between countries including India and Pakistan, Thailand and Cambodia, Armenia and Azerbaijan, Kosovo and Serbia, Israel and Iran, Egypt and Ethiopia, as well as Rwanda and the Congo.
Trump Links Housing Costs to Illegal Immigration Under Biden
Trump criticized the Biden administration’s immigration policies, blaming them for driving up housing costs. “We have never been invaded. This is the worst thing that, frankly, in my opinion, the worst thing that the Biden administration did to our country is the invasion at the border,” Trump said.
He claimed that millions of migrants were brought into the U.S. under Biden, many receiving taxpayer-funded housing. “The rent and housing costs for Americans skyrocketed,” Trump said, adding that over 60% of rental market growth was driven by foreign migrants.
Trump Highlights ‘Reverse Migration’ and Job Growth for Americans
Trump also focused on the impact of immigration on jobs and public services. “At the same time, illegal aliens stole American jobs and flooded emergency rooms, getting free health care and education paid for by you, the American taxpayer,” he stated.
He claimed that for the first time in 50 years, the U.S. is experiencing “reverse migration,” with migrants returning to their home countries. “Since I took office, 100 percent of all net job creation has gone to American-born citizens. Hundred percent,” Trump said, emphasizing that prior to his administration, most new jobs were filled by foreign-born workers.
