Prince Hussain, second son of the Aga Khan, has married his fiancée Elizabeth Hoag in a private ceremony on Sunday (29 September).

The traditional Muslim ceremony, held in Geneva, Switzerland, was attended by immediate family members.

“This is a very happy occasion for us and I am delighted to welcome Elizabeth into our family,” said the Aga Khan, the spiritual leader of the Shia Ismaili Muslims.

Hoag has converted to Islam for the marriage and will now be known as Princess Fareen. Born in New York City, she holds a master’s degree in mental health counselling, and has worked in private practice.

Prince Hussain is involved in the various agencies of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), concentrating on cultural and environmental issues as well as disaster risk reduction and emergency management.
