VETERAN actor-turned-politician Shatrughan Sinha has been discharged from a Mumbai hospital following heart surgery last month.
Sinha, 66, spent more than a month at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital after complaining of breathlessness in July. Doctors found his arteries were blocked and Sinha underwent a bypass surgery on July 16.
"He is absolutely fine. He was supposed to be discharged 10 to 12 days ago after the surgery, but he chose to stay on for a cardio-respiratory rehabilitation programme," the hospital’s COO Dr Ram Narain said.
Sinha made his Bollywood debut in 1969 with Sajan and acted in over 200 Hindi, Bengali and Punjabi films.
Among his best known films are Kalicharan, Vishwanath, Blackmail, Dostana, Shaan and Kala Patthar.
He is currently the Bharatiya Janata Party’s MP from Patna Sahib in Bihar.
