BHARATIYA Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is projected to cross 220 seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, according to an opinion poll.

The survey, conducted by CNN-IBN and CSDS, also projects a worst-ever performance by Congress, better show by regional  parties like Trinamool Congress and AIADMK and emergence of Aam Aadmi Party.

The poll shows BJP alone getting 192-210 out of a total 543 Lok Sabha seats. The Congress is projected to get 92-108 seats.

While the survey projects 211-231 Lok Sabha seats to BJP-led NDA, it gives only 107-127 seats to Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA).

Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress is projected to get 20-28 Lok Sabha seats. The survey shows Jayalalithaa’s AIADMK getting 15-23 seats.

Left is projected to get only 15-23 seats. The survey gives 6-12 Lok Sabha seats to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). It also projects dismal show by Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP).

According to the survey, Samajwadi Party is projected to get only 8-14 seats and BSP 10-16 seats.

In terms of poll percentage, BJP is projected to get 34 per cent vote share, a 15.2 per cent jump since 2009 Lok Sabha polls.

At the same time, the survey shows Congress getting 27 per cent vote share – a 1.6 per cent decline since 2009.

The survey shows that Narendra Modi continues to be the top choice for the prime minister’s post – much ahead of  Rahul Gandhi.

While 34 per cent preferred Modi to be prime minister, only 15 per cent supported Gandhi. Sonia Gandhi is projected third on the PM ratings at 5 per cent. It shows AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal getting support of three per cent for the PM’s post.

According to the survey, in a direct face-off between Modi and Rahul, 42 per cent prefer Modi and only 25 per cent prefer Rahul as Prime Minister.
