AFTER doing a number of serious roles in films such as Sahib, Biwi Aur Gangster and Tanu Weds
Manu, Bollywood actor Jimmy Shergil says he now wants to act in a comedy.
“I feel as an actor, you should do different roles. So, after doing all these serious roles in my films, I really want to do a light-hearted film. It will be a challenge for me,” Shergil said.
The 42-year-old actor said he struggled hard to get rid of the romantic hero image after the success of Mohabbatein.
“I started my career with Maachis, but Mohabbatein established me as an actor. I am grateful for the film, but I never wanted the image of a romantic hero in Bollywood. It was a conscious decision to do serious roles to break that image,” he said.
The actor has wrapped up the shooting of multi-starrer gangster drama Special Chabbis and director Tigmanshu Dhulia’s Sahib Biwi Aur Gangster 2. He is also working on Dhulia’s next project Bullet Raja with Saif Ali Khan.
Jimmy was recently seen in tennis star Leander Paes starrer Rajdhani Express, where he played a police officer.
“It was a very unconventional story and had dark humour. I enjoyed shooting the film because my director Ashok Kohli is a lawyer by profession. He used to discuss about loopholes in the system,” he said.
