INDIAN president Pratibha Patil was in Austria yesterday on the second stop of a two-country trip to Europe that also took in Switzerland and was aimed at boosting commercial ties.After being received with military honours at the Imperial Palace, the seat of the presidency in Vienna, Patil held talks with President Heinz Fischer before representatives inked two agreements on cooperation in railways and in science and technology.“Over the past six decades we have developed strong ties and an institutional framework for dialogue and cooperation in the political, economic, commercial and science and technology fields,” Patil told journalists after the meeting.Accompanied by a large business delegation, the Indian president – the first woman in that post – is to take part in a bilateral trade forum today and hold talks with Chancellor Werner Faymann before heading to Salzburg tomorrow to visit the house where Mozart lived.
