INDIA'S national hockey captain Sardar Singh denied on Thursday (February 4) he sexually harassed a woman who claims she was emotionally abused by the player during their alleged relationship.
Police on Wednesday (February 3) formed a special team to investigate the allegations lodged by the woman to a commissioner in Punjab state, to determine whether to register a case against him.
Singh called a press conference on Thursday to deny the claims including that he forced her to undergo an abortion last year after he called off their engagement.
Singh said he would cooperate with the investigators, but denied ever being in a romantic relationship with the woman.
"We met during the London Olympics. She came to my house… and we met and were good friends," Singh told reporters.
The midfielder also said that his social media accounts had been hacked in the past, with pictures posted of the pair together.
The 29-year-old was been a member of the national team since 2006 and helped India to win gold at the 2014 Asian Games and silver at the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
