IMRAN Khan has blamed the UK government for a senior politician's murder.
Zahra Shahid Hussain, part of Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, was shot dead by gunmen in Karachi ahead of re-polling in the region.
Khan blamed political leader Altaf Hussain, who is in exile in London, for the attack alleging he is "directly responsible".
The former cricketer added: "I also hold the British government responsible as I had warned them about British citizen Altaf Hussain after his open threats to kill PTI workers.”
Altaf Hussain is the UK-based leader of the MQM party.
MQM officials deny any role in the attack and have threatened to take legal action against Khan.
He has also blamed security lapses by Pakistan’s government for the killing, despite thousands of security personnel being deployed in Karachi ahead of the re-poll.
Hussain was killed outside her home when gunmen on a motorcycle opened fire.
Police say at least three men were involved in the attack and all of them fled the scene.
"She thought they wanted to snatch her purse and handed it over to them but they killed her," PTI leader Firdous Shamim said.
