ACTOR and filmmaker Aamir Khan said he was keen on making a film to mark the centenary of Indian cinema.
“I was looking forward to making a film on 100 years of cinema…I wanted to do something, but couldn’t do it.
“I am happy that Indian cinema has completed 100 years and happy to be a part of this industry.
“My completion of 25 years in the industry coincides with 100 years of cinema. This makes me feel all the more special,” Aamir told reporters in Mumbai on Monday (April 29).
Aamir features in the title song of the film Bombay Talkies that was made to celebrate the landmark. The film releases on May 3.
The song, which begins with Aamir and ends with Shah Rukh Khan, also features actors Kareena Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Anil Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, Madhuri Dixit, Aamir Khan, Vidya Balan, Sridevi, Ranbir Kapoor and many other celebrities.
“It was great fun doing the song. It feels great to be alongside such talented people in Bombay Talkies. I think there were many people (celebrities) who were missed out (from the song),” he said.
Aamir, whose favourite Hindi films include Mughal-E-Azam, Pyaasa and Mother India, also wished he had had a chance to work with legendary actor Dilip Kumar.
“Dilipji is my favourite actor; I am a huge fan of him. He has influenced me a lot. I wish I could have got an
opportunity to work with him.
“His influence has been huge on my life. I have learnt a lot seeing his work. He is a great actor,” Aamir said.
