Two police officers were shot dead in the Des Moines, Iowa, area in separate 'ambush-style attacks' on Wednesday (Nov 2) , NBC News reported.
One officer was found dead about 1 am local time in Urbandale, a suburb of Des Moines, the capital and most populous city in Iowa state. The second officer was found dead about 1:30 am local time in the city.
'The shootings appear to have been ambush-style attacks,' a statement from the Des Moines police department said, according to NBC.
Both officers were shot in their patrol cars about 5 km apart, department spokesman Paul Parizek told reporters.
'There is a clear and present danger to police officers right now,' he said. 'There is definitely danger out there right now.'
