Tourism circuit to be developed along Gujarat coast, says Rajnath

UNION Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday (February 5) announced that the Centre would develop
tourism circuit along the coast of Gujarat.
 
"Gujarat has a long coast and several historic places. The Union Government has decided to develop tourist circuit along the state coast covering some historic places like Gir, Sasan, Junagadh, Somnath and Udvada," Singh said.
 
The minister, who is on a visit to Saurashtra region, was talking to reporters after inaugurating a government hospital in Diu, around 275 kms from Rajkot. 
 
Singh, who also inaugurated a 3MW solar power plant and reviewed the coastal security measures in Diu, said, "In coming days Diu will become green energy utilise center of the country".
 
"For coastal security, nearly 114 check posts have been approved by the Centre in November last year. In the recruitment, which would begin soon, 33 per cent posts have been reserved for women," he said.
 
On a query about Indian fishermen being apprehended by Pakistan, Singh said, "After coming to power, we have managed to get a number of boats released from Pakistan and our efforts are on to free more number of boats from their clutches," he said.
 
Replying to a question on fugitive underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, the Minister only said, "Everything cannot be disclosed."
