INDIA’S Shanthakumaran Sreesanth has been fined 10 per cent of his match fee for kicking the boundary rope during the ongoing third and final Test against South Africa.

The temperamental paceman kicked the rope after his two leg-before appeals were turned down on the penultimate day of the match in Cape Town yesterday, the International Cricket Council (ICC) said in a statement.

Sreesanth pleaded guilty to a charge relating to “abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings”.

“As Sreesanth accepted the decision without contest, there was no need for a hearing,” the ICC said.

The paceman has so far taken 79 wickets in 24 Tests.

The final Test is keenly poised, with India needing 340 to win on the fifth and last day today with all wickets in hand to clinch the series, currently tied 1-1.
