Four gunshots were fired outside the Juhu residence of director-producer Rohit Shetty in the early hours of Sunday, February 1, 2026. The firing took place at approximately 12:45 a.m. at Shetty Towers, the residential building where Rohit Shetty lives. At the time of the incident, Rohit Shetty was inside his home but was not injured.

According to police, the shots were fired from outside the compound wall of the building. CCTV cameras installed at Shetty Towers recorded the incident and have since become a key part of the investigation.

Rohit Shetty Was Inside the Building During the Shooting

Police records show that several security personnel were on duty when the incident occurred. The security guard who later filed the complaint was seated near the CCTV monitoring screens in the lobby. Another bodyguard, Waheed Malik, was also present in the lobby area. Police bodyguard Ashish Rane was on the sixth floor at the time, having his meal. Rohit Shetty was resting on the seventh floor when the gunfire occurred.

The complainant stated that he initially heard sounds resembling firecrackers. Suspecting something was wrong, he immediately checked the CCTV monitors in the lobby.

Rohit Shetty Attack Captured on CCTV Footage

The CCTV footage showed an unidentified individual standing near the compound wall of Shetty Towers, close to Road Number 10. The suspect was wearing a black jacket and white trousers.

According to the complaint, the footage clearly showed the individual firing what appeared to be a pistol-like firearm toward the building. The complainant told police that the suspect fired a total of five rounds. Moments after the shots were fired, Waheed Malik and another security guard stationed at the gate, Satyam Pathak, rushed outside.

They reportedly saw the suspect fleeing the scene on foot toward the Pushpa Park area.

Security Guard Says Rohit Shetty Was the Intended Target

The security guard immediately informed police constable Ashish Rane by phone. Rane rushed to the gate and alerted local police authorities. Officers from Juhu Police Station arrived at the scene shortly afterward, assessed the situation, and later accompanied the complainant to the police station to formally record his statement.

In his complaint, the guard stated that he firmly believed the shots were fired with the intention of killing Rohit Shetty. He told police that the unidentified assailant deliberately aimed toward Rohit Shetty’s residence from outside the compound wall, which he said amounted to an attempt to murder.

The complainant also stated that his written statement, which was typed in Marathi, was read out to him and accurately reflected his account of the incident.

Rohit Shetty Case: Scooter Used in Attack Traced to Pune

Mumbai Police sources said investigators were able to trace the vehicle used in the attack, a Honda Dio scooter, to a resident of Pune. According to police, the scooter’s owner had sold the vehicle a few days earlier to one of the arrested accused, Aditya Gayki, for ₹30,000.

Police said the transaction was informal, and the owner took Gayki’s signature on a blank paper at the time of the sale. Investigators believe this was done to avoid leaving a clear paper trail.

According to police findings, Gayki and another arrested accused, Samarth Pomaji, later abandoned the scooter at a pre-decided location in the Juhu area after bringing it to Mumbai.

Role of Shubham Lonkar in the Rohit Shetty Attack

Police sources said instructions related to the purchase of the scooter and where it was to be left in Mumbai were allegedly given by gangster Shubham Lonkar. Investigators believe that the individuals involved in buying and transporting the scooter were not aware of the shooter’s identity.

Police said Lonkar later instructed the shooter to collect the scooter from the designated drop-off point and carry out the firing. According to investigators, this method mirrors a pattern seen in earlier criminal cases, where different groups are assigned limited tasks to ensure that no single group has full knowledge of the entire operation.

Rohit Shetty Investigation Ongoing

Mumbai Police have said the investigation into the attack on Rohit Shetty is ongoing. Officers are continuing to identify all individuals involved in the plot and are working to establish the motive behind the firing.

Authorities are also examining whether the attack is linked to previous threats or cases involving organized crime networks. Police have not yet disclosed further details but say additional arrests are likely as the probe continues.

Rohit Shetty has not made a public statement following the incident. Police have increased security in the area as a precautionary measure while the investigation remains active.
