Chitkar is a story about a paranoid schizophrenic girl Ratna (Sujata Mehta) with split personality with a violent streak. According to senior psychiatrists, it was impossible to cure her illness. Dr. Markand (Hiten Kumar) a brilliant psychiatrist who is devoted to his career and patients learns about this case that has been admitted to the same mental asylum and hospital where he works. He takes it up as a challenge to cure Ratna of her disease to prove to the world that there is nothing that cannot be cured with medicines along with caring for the patient and getting into the root cause of each case. Dr. Markand jumps headlong into the case with a view to cure Ratna completely and bring her back into mainstream society and give her a chance to lead a normal life.
