BOLLYWOOD actress Tisca Chopra, who will be seen in the Indian adaptation of popular American espionage drama “24,” is confident that the show will create a new audience for Indian television.

The Hindi version of the show, which has the same name as the original one, is written by Rensil D’Silva. It is being directed by Abhinay Deo and produced by Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor.

“The show is not a risk for me. It is a huge franchise. I am quite happy to be part of such a show, which offers good content. It is an amazing show, and I have loved the original version. With the format of this show I am sure it will develop a new set of audience,” Chopra said.

The series will see Kapoor play Jack Bauer, an anti-terror squad leader, while Chopra will essay the role of Bauer’s wife.

“I have an exciting role to play in the show. It’s a challenging role, and I’ll get to do things I have never done before. The role is different from what it is in the original show. It is a huge opportunity to get to do a show like this,” she said.

Chopra’s role as the mother of a schoolboy in “Taare Zameen Par” was much appreciated. In this show, she will again be seen playing the role of a mother to the characters enacted by newcomers Adhish Khanna and Sapna Pabbi.

Chopra has already started shooting for the show. The actress, who will venture onto the small screen for the first time, feels that the content on television has improved.

“TV as a medium had to grow, and it is growing. There are lots of formats on the small screen — daily soaps, reality shows, shows like ‘CID’ and others. Today’s audience is getting a lot of variety to see,” she said.

“24” will premiere in August on Colors channel.
