CELEBRITY fashion designer Manish Malhotra, who is designing Indian actress Kareena Kapoor’s  wedding trousseau, says the marriage ceremony is like a family affair to him.

“It’s a wedding which is very close to my heart. It’s almost like a family wedding. A lot of preparation is going into it. It would be unfair to speak about it tonight. It’s all very Indian,” Manish said at the ongoing Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2013.

He showcased his latest Mijwan collection with Indian actress Parineeti Chopra as the showstopper. She sashayed down the ramp in a blue and orange lehenga teamed with a deep-cut choli.

The collection comprised 60s style lehengas and anarkalis and featured Chikankari embroidery by girls from Mijwan, who are supported by veteran actress Shabana Azmi’s Mijwan Welfare Society (MWS).

“This show is all about showing the craft of Mijwan women. The whole purpose was to highlight the good cause through fashion week. We recently did a show in Mumbai where several actors walked for the cause. Fashion week is all about style and trends, but sometimes it is good to see the craft that is happening in our villages,” Manish said.
