Two Burnley brothers who sexually assaulted a girl for five years since she was aged 11 have been jailed.

Nozmul and Azizul Haque have both been placed on the sex offenders register for life following their conviction for pedophilic offences.

Preston Crown Court heard that the sexual assault on the girl came to light only in 2018 when she reported the offence.

Azizul, 36, also filmed the girl in a shower and threatened to punch her if she reported him to the police.

When the teen, whose identity cannot be reported for legal reasons, reported the brothers’ offences, Nozmul called her “slag” and said she had “deserved it”.

He also sexually assaulted another woman.

Nozmul, who was arrested in October 2018, initially denied the offences he was accused of. He later admitted two counts of assaulting a girl under the age of 13, one count of sexual assault by penetration on a girl under the age of 13 and eight counts of sexual assault of a female, the Lancashire Telegraph reported.

His older brother was arrested about seven months later and investigators found indecent images of children on his phone. There was also evidence of internet searches for teenage schoolgirls.

He pleaded guilty to 10 counts of assault on a girl under the age of 13, four counts of assault on a girl under the age of 15, voyeurism by installing equipment, possessing indecent images and two counts of making indecent photos.

Judge Andrew Jefferies KC sentenced Azizul Haque to three years and seven months in prison and jailed Nozmul for three years and two months.

In addition to their names figuring in the register of sex offenders, the siblings have also been subjected to indefinite sexual harm prevention orders.
