A UNIQUE three-day arts festival comes to Britain next month, highlighting some of the best entertainment from Bengal.

Alexandra Palace in north London will be the venue for the Ananda Utsav from April 1-3.

Among the highlights will be a celebration in Bengali (and translations into Hindi and Urdu) of Nobel prize for literature winner Rabindranath Tagore’s 150th birth anniversary; a performance by renowned sarod maestro Ustad Amjad Ali Khan (pictured) and his sons, and Bollywood songs from Shaan and Hariharan.

There will also be a knowledge zone and a cookery area with talks and demonstrations.

Ananda Utsav is organised by the Bengal media group, Anandabazar Patrika, India’s largest Bengali newspaper group. See www.londonananda utsav2011.com for details.
