ASIAN entrepreneur and Dragons’ Den judge James Caan has been recruited by Business Secretary Lord Peter Mandelson to co-chair the Ethnic Minority Business Taskforce.
Caan, who won the GG2 Man of the Year 2008 at the GG2 Leadership & Diversity Awards said "The entrepreuerial sector of the economy has always been where my passion lies.’
Caan made his name and fortune in the recruitment industry before moving into private equity as well as, more recently, starring in the BBC’s prime time programme Dragons’ Den. Having grown up in London’s Brick Lane in a family business setting but deciding to go it alone in a different sector, he has first-hand experience of both BME (Black and Minority Ethnic) family business and growing a multi-million-pound company, making him ideally positioned for the Task Force
Lord Mandelson said: “It’s more important than ever that we create an environment where anyone with ambition, passion and a good idea – no matter what their background – can succeed. James’s entrepreneurial expertise and business acumen will further build the Task Force’s work in removing barriers for BME business owners.”
