An Indian man was hacked to death in a calm residential locality of west London by three hooded attackers who sped away in a car leaving him for dead.

Thirty three year old Gurinder Singh who came from Punjab in India was an aspiring businessman. ‘Help me, I’m dying’ he cried to homeowners who rushed to help him after the attack. Although the police team that later arrived at the spot took Singh to hospital, he could not survive the mutiple stab wounds inflicted by the attackers.

Witnesses said they saw a group in a dark coloured vehicle which first tried to run over Singh at high speed in Spikes Bridge Road, Southall, shortly after 11pm on Saturday (July 31).

Three men leapt from the vehicle and stabbed him up to four times with a long curved weapon and kicked him on the ground. Witnesses said the weapon could have been a sword – The “frenzied” 30-second attack ended after the three men, wearing dark clothing with hoods, jumped into the car and drove off. Neighbours in the street rushed to help as Mr Singh lay dying on the pavement, giving him water and comforting him until emergency services arrived.

‘He was lying on his side and there was blood everywhere. We were scared,’ narrated a witness. Another witness said, ‘I was coming down the road and I saw these guys in hoods beating this guy on the ground. It was terrifying. It was too dangerous to step in.’

‘It was all over in about 30 seconds. He’d been stabbed in the back of his head, his calf and twice in the back,’ said another witness.

Another witness said, ‘I heard the screech of tyres and saw a dark car. I think it was a Vauxhall going at about 60 or 70mph trying to run the guy over.’

‘One of them had a hood and they were all dressed in dark clothing. They were smashing at the guy, it looked like they were taking golf swings,’he added.

‘I don’t know why anyone would want to do this to him. He wasn’t mixed up in drugs or anything like that. He didn’t deserve this,’ said Singh’s friend.

Detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command have arrested a 24-year-old man on suspicion of murder.
