DOCTORS treating sick Indian spiritual leader Sai Baba, one of India’s most famous gurus, said today they were “optimistic” about his recovery.
The 85-year-old Hindu mystic, who has a following of millions across the world, has been on life-support suffering from multiple problems including a heart condition, lung congestion and kidney failure.
“Sai Baba is showing positive signs of response to the treatment being given to him,” said an update from doctor AN Safaya from the Sri Satya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences in Sai Baba’s home town, Puttaparthi.
“His health condition is stable though he is still on a ventilator and slow dialysis. The panel of doctors treating him are optimistic about his recovery.”
Sai Baba is credited with many supernatural powers by his followers, including an ability to conjure objects out of thin air, remember past lives and cure terminal diseases.
He counts former prime ministers and presidents, top businessmen and even Indian cricket superstar Sachin Tendulkar among his followers, which are thought to number tens of millions in more than 100 countries.
