Sri Lankan intelligence is urgently investigating the potential ISIS connections of four Sri Lankan individuals arrested by the Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) at Ahmedabad Airport in India. The suspects travelled from Colombo to Chennai before heading to Ahmedabad.

The investigation began after senior defence officials in Sri Lanka requested detailed information from their Indian counterparts to verify the suspects’ backgrounds and potential ISIS links. “We are working in close coordination with our Indian counterparts to ensure that all necessary measures are taken to address any potential threat,” stated Public Security Minister Tiran Alles.

Minister Alles, along with Inspector General of Police (IGP) Deshabandu Tennakoon, emphasised the seriousness of the situation. “We are taking these reports seriously and will initiate discussions with Indian authorities to gather detailed information about the suspects and their activities,” added IGP Tennakoon.

The Gujarat ATS has moved the suspects to an undisclosed location for further questioning. The exact reason for their presence at Ahmedabad Airport remains unknown. Sri Lankan authorities are on high alert as they await more details from Indian intelligence.
