Indian Railways to roll out the new e-ticketing service
TRAVEL agents in India will no longer be able to fleece train passengers as Indian Railways is set to roll out its own e-ticketing service.Unscrupulous agents have been known to block last-minute or 'tatkal' tickets and sell them at inflated prices when demand soars.Under the new system, individual customers may register for free at www.indianrailways.gov.in, accessible from 12.30 am to 11.30 pm.Users will be allowed a maximum of eight transactions per ID per month. A service charge of seven pence (Rs 5) will be levied for sleeper class and 14 pence (Rs10) for all other classes.
