Mobile restaurant enthralls patrons in Ahmedabad Thursday, July 15, 2010
Mobile meals: Hijackk, the mobile restaurant

PATRONS are served delicious food in a mobile restaurant ‘Hijackk’ located in a double Decker bus while traveling across Ahmedabad.

The menu keeps changing every ten days and food enthusiasts can experience the joy of savoring various delicacies, along with entertainment.

“We started with this concept because we wanted people to enjoy good food with nice ambience while traveling the whole city. We have selected Ahmedabad because it is a growing city and also because of the development in the infrastructure,” said Hardik Raval, director of Hijackk restaurant.

The lower deck is complete with entertainment, which includes music where customers can choose songs from a list. The upper deck gives a chance to experience dining in the open air, listening to live guitar music.

The restaurant has a seating capacity of 44.

“Well it’s been fun to be very honest, and this bus is quite comfortable that I think is the good thing that they have planned and you don’t feel major bumps (jerks) and the food is good,” said Ayush Bahety, a customer.

The bus takes a 45-kilometer route, covering some key areas of Ahmedabad  in a time span of 90 minutes. Mocktails, soups, salads, starters, main course and desserts are served during the journey.

The whole package costs Rs365 ($7.8/£5.1) per person and Rs195 ($4.1/£2.7) for kids.
