A STUDENT has raised more than £6,400 for a charitable organisation that provides meals for 1.3 million school children in India.

 

Sabina Ranger, a second-year university student, organised a five-kilometre walk for the Akshaya Patra Foundation, a non-governmental organisation in India.

 

The walk took place in Northwood, London on August 5, the same day that the foundation served its billionth meal.

 

Sabina was joined by her family and Dipika Khaitan, the president of The Akshaya Patra Foundation UK, as well as neighbours and friends on the walk. She made t-shirts with a picture of school children eating meals handed out by the foundation.

 

The foundation was launched in 2000 aims to feed over five million children by 2020.
