Raam Songara, 8, and his sister Meera, 9, both got A* grades in GCSE Maths

RAAM and Meera began studying independently after being given mathematics textbooks by dad Dipak when they were just four and five.

Dipak, 38, told Garavi Gujarat the pair showed their potential before their first birthdays.

He said: Meera and Raam could speak basic Gujarati and English when they were 10 months old and they were also walking at this age.

When they started nursery they loved working with numbers and were absorbing information very quickly. By the time they reached Year 1 [age 6] they could do algebra.

After the exam Raam told the invigilators at the college that he had found the exam easy whilst Meera thought it was fine.

They enjoyed the challenge of the exam and thought that it was fun therefore the element of pressure or expectation did not come into the equation.

The duo scored over 90 per cent without any private tuition.

Raam, now nine, and Meera, now 10, are students at Moorlands Independent School in Luton, Bedfordshire.

Their parents want them to remain with their age group in school, although Raam does study maths two years ahead.

Songara, a risk management consultant from Luton, added: There are no set plans or targets for the children to work towards.

We must remember that they are children and we want them to enjoy their childhood.
